19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts

A revitalized Medvedev won his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his first trophy following the Rome competition and first on a hard court since March of that year.

The win also means the Russian has secured 21 victories at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my children together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular reactions on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
